Raffaele Pe & Orpheus' Lyre
present the Orfeo Week

Concerts, workshops, performances, and talks: the first edition of Orfeo Week, presented by Raffaele Pe and his ensemble La Lira di Orfeo, is an innovative and cross-disciplinary way to discuss culture, starting with Baroque music, and in particular the myth of Orpheus.
In Lodi, the birthplace of the highly sought-after countertenor and the permanent home of the baroque ensemble he founded, extraordinary artists and international guests from all fields of knowledge will gather for the first time from November 20th to 27th.
I believe that artistic research always requires a place and a community in which to build its own biography and develop its own language. This is even more true for music, seemingly the most ephemeral of the arts, but rather the deepest—though ineffable—soul of a culture, a region. The La Lira di Orfeo project has grown tremendously in recent years, receiving invitations from prestigious international institutions: from Wigmore Hall to the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and the Theater an der Wien. But it is precisely to Lodi, our home, that we want to invite the many artists we have met around the world and who have always inspired and supported our journey.
The event's undisputed protagonists will be key figures from the Italian and international cultural scene, including actor, writer, and musician Moni Ovadia, cellist and composer Giovanni Sollima, poet Davide Rondoni, soprano Sunhae Im, theater director and artistic director Andrée Ruth Shammah, violist Fahmi Alqhai with his ensemble Accademia del Piacere, violinist Anais Chen, harpist Chiara Granata, and the dance company Fattoria Vittadini, along with Raffaele Pe & La Lira di Orfeo.
Orpheus Week is also an opportunity to reflect on the role of music in today's knowledge. A celebration open to all, sharing and recounting in an unusual way the myth of Orpheus, archetype of the mysterious and irresistible power of poetry and music. Baroque sound will be the guide, opening the door to contemporary life.
There will also be workshops for schools and masterclasses led by the artists themselves to pursue the important goal of the Lira di Orfeo: passing on the sensitivity of baroque music to new generations.
The events will be hosted in various venues in the Lombardy city, including the Teatro alle Vigne and the Sala Cosway.
